Selection and Design of Welds
Welding is a very useful technique that can be used for many different processes. Because of its broad use, a great deal of research should occur if it is going to be used properly, effectively, and safely. In order to properly design a weld, many important considerations must be covered. Some of these considerations are the size of a load that will be applied, what type of material would be best for the situation, the type of joint that would be best for this application, and the shape of the weld. A final consideration to remember is that all welds are unique and must be examined carefully on location to ensure that weld defects do not make a design unsafe.
