Hello everyone,

It has been a while since I have talked to everyone. I am sorry for being absent this past week, but I had 2 massive tests, one that I am sure that I Aced and another that I am hoping for a C-. Well, enough about school, I want to let everyone know about my favorite pass-time. How many of you have heard of Baja races? hmmmm…. Yeah it is not that well known. But if I were to say how many people know of Dune Buggy races, then I bet anything that I would get more people to talk. Well in a way that is what I have been up to this past year. I have joined a group called SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). I am part of ‘Knights Racing’ (the SAE Chapter at my school), I have been very active with this group since back in August of 2009.

What do I do in this organization? Well, I am glad that you asked, I have been making parts using a Lathe, Mill, and many more tools. Some of these tools I never knew even existed until I joined and now I am really enjoying learning and getting dirty gaining experience in a field that I am loving more each and every day. Our school has two different teams, the Baja Team (This is the best one, don’t let anyone tell you differently :P ) and the Formula team. As you can tell there is a small rivalry within the club between the teams but we do help each other out and are like one big, messed up family of sorts. The cool thing about our team is that we have our own Garage that is located on the edge of campus, this means that we don’t really have to share with different classes or what not.

I have gotten the opportunity to drive the Baja car a few times and can say with assurance that there is nothing like flying over bumps and mud in one of these things. It accelerates like no one’s business and handles very well. It does flip but that is one of the exciting parts of driving these things. The chassis and everything (except the 10hp Briggs and Stratton Engine) are designed entirely by us the students of the University, so as you can expect we take a lot of pride in how it turns out and the quality that goes into it. I could go on forever about this topic but will spare you from hearing me ramble on about this subject. If you want to learn more please feel free to shoot me an email using the Contact form on this site. I would love to talk more about it with everyone, If you want you can start a conversation in the comments. Here are some pics of the Shop if you are wondering what it looks like.

Well I know this post wasn’t about M49, but it was about another one of my passions. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Well talk to you later. Have a great week.

God Bless

Matthew (President, Founder M49Productions)
